The ScoutKit Referral Program is designed to help recruiting families, athletes, coaches, agencies, and training organizations grow our community โ and get rewarded for doing it. These guidelines govern how the program works, who qualifies, how rewards are earned, and what happens when things go sideways.
The ScoutKit Referral Program rewards members who introduce new users to the platform. When someone you refer creates an account and takes a qualifying action โ such as starting a paid trial or subscribing to a plan โ you earn a reward based on your own account type and plan. The program operates on a per-referral basis: each qualifying referral earns one reward, and most reward types can be stacked across multiple referrals.
This program is offered as a benefit to active ScoutKit users in good standing. ScoutKit reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the referral program at any time, with or without notice, though we commit to honoring rewards already earned at the time of any such change.
Participation in the referral program is voluntary and does not affect your standing, features, or pricing as a ScoutKit subscriber. The program is separate from any affiliate or partnership arrangements, which are governed by separate agreements.
Every ScoutKit account has a unique referral code automatically generated from your account identifier. Your referral link takes the format scoutkit.app/r/[your-code]. You can find this link in your dashboard and in your account settings.
When someone clicks your referral link, we set a first-party attribution cookie that lasts 30 days. If that person creates a ScoutKit account and completes a qualifying action within 30 days of clicking your link, that referral is attributed to you. Multi-touch attribution is not supported โ the first referral link clicked wins.
A qualifying action varies by the type of account being referred:
Rewards are credited to your account within 5 business days of a qualifying action being confirmed. You will receive an in-app notification when a referral is confirmed and a reward is applied.
ScoutKit's referral rewards are designed to feel meaningful and relevant to each account type. Rather than offering generic discounts or points, we try to give referrers something they'll actually use.
3.1 โ Feature Unlock Rewards (Individual, Family, and Pro accounts)
Family, Pro, and Free-tier accounts earn one Feature Unlock per qualifying referral. A Feature Unlock lets you activate one premium ScoutKit feature โ one tier above your current plan โ completely free for 30 days. You choose which feature to unlock, and the choice is made through the reward picker in your dashboard after confirmation.
Feature Unlocks are stackable: you can earn multiple unlocks across multiple referrals and apply them to different features. For example, three successful referrals would give you the ability to have three different premium features running simultaneously. Stacked unlocks are capped at six active at any one time. Unlocks expire 30 days after activation, not 30 days after earning โ you can hold earned picks until you're ready to use them.
Accounts on the Free plan are offered Pro-tier features in the unlock picker. Accounts on the Pro plan are offered Family and Agency-tier features. There is no unlock reward for Agency plan holders, as they already have access to all features โ see Section 3.2.
3.2 โ Billing Credit Rewards (Agency and Team accounts)
Agency plan accounts earn a billing credit of $49.99 โ equivalent to one month of the Agency plan โ for each qualifying agency or team referral. Billing credits are applied automatically to the next invoice cycle. Credits can accumulate with no expiration, and there is no cap on the number of agency referrals an account can make or the total credit that can be earned.
Billing credits are non-transferable and cannot be converted to cash or applied to plans other than the Agency plan. If a referred agency cancels before their first full billing period, the credit is reversed.
3.3 โ PWA Installation Reward
In addition to the referral program, all account types can earn a one-time Feature Unlock reward by installing ScoutKit as a Progressive Web App (PWA) on a mobile device. This reward is separate from the referral program and does not count toward the six-unlock stack cap. The PWA install reward follows the same tier logic: Free accounts unlock a Pro feature, Pro accounts unlock a Family or Agency feature. Agency accounts do not receive a PWA install reward as they already have full feature access.
Not all referrals qualify under all account types. ScoutKit's referral program is designed to reward genuine advocacy โ introducing people to ScoutKit who wouldn't otherwise find it. Because of this, certain referral types are restricted based on the referring account's plan and the nature of their relationship with the referred party. The rules below are intended to keep the program fair, prevent abuse, and ensure that rewards go to people who are actually growing our community rather than benefiting from activity that is already part of their normal business.
4.1 โ Free, Pro, and Family Account Referrals
Accounts on the Free, Pro, or Family plan may refer any new user โ including other families, individual athletes, coaches, trainers, and organizations. There are no restrictions on the target account type for these referrers. The qualifying action for these referrals is the referred person starting a paid trial with a valid payment method. These accounts are eligible for Feature Unlock rewards per Section 3.1.
4.2 โ Agency and Team Account Referrals
Accounts on the Agency plan โ including sports agencies, recruiting services, AAU programs, training organizations, high school programs, and similar entities โ may participate in the referral program with one important restriction: Agency accounts earn referral credit only when they refer other agencies, teams, or organizations that sign up for a ScoutKit Agency plan.
Referrals of individual athletes, families, or personal accounts by Agency plan holders do not qualify for referral credit, regardless of whether those individuals complete a qualifying action. This restriction exists because recruiting and onboarding individual athletes is a core function of most agency and team operations on ScoutKit โ it is the service these accounts are built to provide. Allowing credit for that activity would effectively subsidize normal business operations rather than reward genuine advocacy of the platform.
To be clear: Agency accounts are absolutely welcome and encouraged to share ScoutKit with the athletes and families they work with. We actively want that to happen โ it helps everyone. The referral program simply does not provide financial credit for it, just as a car dealership isn't rewarded for selling cars through a manufacturer's customer referral program.
Agency accounts looking to earn referral credit should focus on peer-to-peer sharing: other recruiting agencies, sports management firms, AAU organizations, club programs, high school athletic departments, and similar entities that would benefit from the Agency plan. Those referrals qualify in full and earn the billing credit described in Section 3.2.
4.3 โ Self-Referral Prohibition
Self-referrals are not permitted. Creating secondary accounts for the purpose of generating referral credit, using referral links to sign up for your own account, or coordinating with others to generate fictitious referrals will result in immediate reversal of any rewards earned and may result in account suspension. ScoutKit uses account-level signals including device fingerprinting, IP analysis, and behavioral patterns to detect self-referral activity.
4.4 โ Existing User Referrals
Referral credit is only earned for new accounts. If someone you refer already has a ScoutKit account โ even a dormant or canceled one โ the referral does not qualify. Referring a user who had previously canceled their account and is returning to ScoutKit does not qualify for referral credit. ScoutKit determines "new user" status at the time the referred account is created.
Feature Unlock picks are held in your account until you choose to use them โ they do not expire before activation. Once activated, a Feature Unlock runs for exactly 30 calendar days from the moment of activation, regardless of when it was earned. Billing credits for Agency accounts are applied automatically and do not expire as long as the Agency plan remains active. Credits lapse if the Agency plan is canceled or downgraded.
Rewards cannot be transferred to other accounts, exchanged for cash, or applied retroactively to past billing cycles. ScoutKit does not offer pro-rated credits for partial billing periods. If a feature becomes free or moves to a lower tier during a 30-day Feature Unlock window, the unlock is automatically retired โ you will be prompted to select a replacement.
ScoutKit monitors referral activity to protect the integrity of the program. Patterns indicating abuse โ including but not limited to self-referrals, coordinated referral rings, fake account creation, or referral link manipulation โ will result in reversal of all associated rewards and may result in permanent account suspension without refund.
We do not publicize the specific signals or thresholds used to detect referral abuse, as doing so would provide a roadmap for circumventing them. If you believe a reward was incorrectly reversed, you may appeal by contacting support with your account details and a description of the referral. We review all appeals and will restore rewards if an error is confirmed.
ScoutKit also reserves the right to adjust reward values, qualifying actions, and eligibility rules at any time. Changes apply prospectively โ referrals already attributed at the time of a change will be honored under the terms in effect when the referral occurred.
Questions about the referral program, disputes over referral attribution, or requests for appeals can be sent to isaaclwilliams@gmail.com with "Referral Program" in the subject line. Please include your account email, referral code, and the email address of the person you referred.
Response times for referral inquiries are typically 2โ3 business days. ScoutKit is a small team and we appreciate your patience during high-volume periods.
